Rest Bay, Porthcawl 11th – 12th February, 2012

It’s finally here – the end of winter, and the SKA’s classic surf style wave jam! We’ve got a rare treat in store for you all, with 2 days of jam format competition, and professional clinics led by none other than BKSA wave master Marc Rowley and his team of experts at Blast Kiteboarding, ably assisted by Flexifoil young gun Josh Coombes. As usual, we will have prizes on offer for those individuals that you, the riders, vote for at the end of the weekend.

For the up and coming waveriders amongst you we’ll have an array of top notch wave riding gear on offer for demo purposes; 15 boards from Blast Kiteboarding, 15 kites from Flexifoil and 10 harnesses from Mystic. Expix will be there to document your glorious performances on and off the water.

For the more traditional students amongst you, we’ll also be hosting our own party at L&A Bunkhouses – if you were at the beginners event you’ll know what to expect, and if you weren’t…you’ll just have to wait and see.

Kite Surfing at Rest Bay, Porthcawl

30 06 2010

Rest Bay, Porthcawl has to be one of the best beaches in the world. Even on a sunny day you can get away from the crowds and find your own peace and tranquillity. Rest Bay is a blue flag clean sandy beach known locally as ‘Southern Wales’ Golden Coast and is ideal for all water sports as well as a great place for families.

Crouch, touch, pause, engage!

10 06 2010

Beach rugby in Wales. Well, rugby is our national sport and we do have some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe so why not? Beach rugby has become huge all over the world and so has touch rugby. A great spectacle and we’ve just discovered that on our very doorstep in Porthcawl, the locals get together to play touch rugby near Rest Bay, every Sunday between 11 and 1 pm. Fantastic. Will try to find out where other communities in Wales have got together informally, so if anyone knows, please share!
